HAWKESBURY FARMHOST TECHNICAL ITINERARY

DAY 1

6:30 am 
Activity: Arrival
SYDNEY – FLEMINGTON MARKETS-HAWKESBURY (LD)
Arrive Flemington Markets, Flemington. AFT Agriculture Guide will escort the groups through the markets.  The markets will be in full action mode and see the selling of the fruit, vegetables and flowers being sold to the city retail buyers.

11:30 am
Activity: Lunch
Arrive at University of Western Sydney (UWS) for inspection and talk and campus tour.
Meet with senior staff members who will guide the group through the UWS campus. 

1:00 pm
Activity: Lunch at local restauarant

2:30 pm
Activity: Study Inspection
Arrive at Flower Farm and meet with farmer who will give a guided tour of this intensive flower farm with over an acre of farming under plastic.

3:00 pm
Activity: Study inspection
Arrive at Hydroponic lettuce and parsley farm at Kellyville. Tour this high tech 20 acre housed enterprise with a member of the family or senior manager and inspect all aspects of its operation.

4:00 pm
Activity: Farm Host Centre
Arrive at the Farm Host Centre meeting point, Hawkesbury. Introduce the students to their farm hosts. Students will be transferred by the farm hosts to their individual farms. 2 – 4 students to one farm. Dinner will be with the farm hosts this evening. 

DAY 2

Activity: With Farmhost
With Farmhost – (BLD)
After breakfast the students will spend a full day on their respective vegetable and crop growing farms with their farm hosts. Farming in this area has been pursued since the late eighteenth century and today much of this land is still used for agriculture.  Students may also be taken by their farm hosts to have technical study time and experience on another farm.
Lunch and dinner this evening will be with their farm hosts.

DAY 3

With Farmhost – (BLD)
After breakfast the students will spend a full day on their respective vegetable and crop growing farms with their farm hosts. Lunch and dinner this evening will be with their farm hosts.

DAY 4
Activity: Scenic
Hawkesbury – Blue Mountains (B)
After breakfast the students will be returned to the Farm Host Centre meeting point to re-join coach and travel via Bells Line of Road and Darling Causeway to Katoomba visit Echo Point for Panoramic views of Three Sisters, then to Scenic World for ride into valley on Scenicscender.
After lunch return to Sydney via Great Western Highway.


Costs Include:
•Farm Host accommodation x 3 nights (1 x DBB & 2 x DBBL basis)
•Meals for students include  Dinner/Lunches/ Breakfasts
•Transfers to/from Hawkesbury Farm Host Centre meeting point to host farms
•Study and technical visits Day 1
•Agricultural Guide for 1 ½  days of inspection and technical tours
•Meals for  Adults include 1 Lunch Day 1
•FOC Technical visits for Adults

Costs Do Not Include:
•Coach transportation to/from Hawkesbury Farm Hostmeeting point
•Coach transportation for technical visit Day 1 Accommodation for Adults
•Meals other than stated for Adults
•Transportation for Adults to inspect student Farm Host farms.
