BB Level: Superior Farm Stay Level: Superior Fonthill Homestead (1840) has been restored to its former glory, and you have the option of staying in the original settler's cabin, shearer's quarters or the homestead.
The cabin is fully self-contained with kitchen, bathroom, laundry, four bedrooms sleeping a total of nine people, a spacious living area and warming fireplaces. The shearer's quarters offers 15 bedrooms and the homestead can take a group of 10 people (no children please).
You can take a close look at the way we run things on our 6500 acre sheep property - particularly interesting during shearing and lambing, but there's always something going on. Of course you won't have to do any of the hard work!
Fonthill is great base for exploring Tasmania. The colonial town of Oatlands is just 20 minutes along quiet country roads. Closer to home, you'll find yourself right in the heart of the Midlands, world famous for its saxon merino flocks and superfine wool.
We welcome groups of horse riders and individuals and the property includes flat open country as well as our bush runs.
As part of our property, 290 hectares have been reserved in its natural state for future generations to appreciate bushwalking, observing the wildlife -Tasmanian devils, wedge-tailed eagles, quolls and forester kangaroos. A photographers paradise.
In the evening you can relax in front of the cosy log fire with a good book or just reflect on the lives and times of our pioneers.
